The Tempest’s little brother
The Sea Fury grew out of a smaller, lighter version of the Hawker Tempest. When the RAF lost interest at the end of the war, the project went on for the Navy. The huge Centaurus engine turned a five-bladed propeller; at a time when jets approaching the speed of sound were arriving, the Sea Fury was the peak of the piston fighter.
Korea and after
In the Korean War, Sea Furies from British and Australian carriers attacked bridges, railways and troops. In August 1952 a flight of Sea Furies that included Lieutenant Peter Carmichael shot down one of the MiG-15s attacking it. The Sea Fury also flew with the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Pakistan and Cuba, among others, and is a favourite at air races today.
In WarSimBox
In the game it is a piston fighter in the light line, in the second stage of the research tree: very fast, with four powerful 20 mm cannon, and strong high up thanks to its two-stage supercharger. With bombs or 12 rockets it also serves as a fighter-bomber.
Unlocked in the aircraft tree after researching Hawker Typhoon Mk Ib and 2000 hp radial engine.
